2 month old kitten nursing from non-mother?

I have a kitten who is about 2-3 months old (Yin-Yang). We waited to get ride of her mother and brother after she was weaned and began to eat dry kitten food. I have another cat that is about a year and a half old (Tiger Lily). Tiger Lily is spayed, and not the mother of the kitten. Yin-Yang tries to nurse from Tiger Lilly, although of course there%26#039;s no milk. Tiger Lily lets Yin-Yang suck on her teets, which I find very odd. How normal is this? Do you think Tiger Lily just has a motherly instinct and the kitten is just doing this for comfort?

It%26#039;s pretty much normal , and weaned kittens even happen to try to suckle from a tomcat or a dog . anything woolly reminds them of their mother and milk and all this .

It%26#039;s good for both Yin-Yang and her new mom I think , simply because Ying-Yang feels much more secure and calm when she purrs for an adult female and thinks of her as her mom . It actually makes her feel that she still somehow has her mom , which is mentally very much vital for her . Tiger Lily also likes it otherwise she would never let the kitten do all this . so surely she likes it too .

We can not say if she has that motherly attitude towards the kitten or not , but she likes it and that%26#039;s nice . cats are so much complected creatures , and there are still so many aspects of their character that we the humans have not discovered .

Best wishes!
Reply:It%26#039;s normal because I have two kittens now who try to suckle from the mother even though they are eating dry food.
Reply:If it doesn%26#039;t bother the older cat, there%26#039;s nothing wrong with the two of them offering comfort to each other like that. Cats are family oriented, this is normal.
Reply:Get this...I had two male kittens who used to try to nurse off of each other...they would get a clump of hair in their mouth and treat it like a teet. It was the funniest thing!
Reply:sounds like they are just doing it for comfort cats will do things like that not common but not odd
Reply:A lot of animals do that. I think it is their motherly instinct. Sometimes even dogs will act like a mother to a kitten. It%26#039;s strange but kind of sweet.
Reply:Why did to get %26quot;rid%26quot; of her mother?!
