Math problem?

lily is 16 years younger then danny. danny is two more then twice lily%26#039;s age.

what are there ages?

please explain how to do this :]

Math problem?
Use algebra.

Let x = lily%26#039;s age, and x + 16 = danny%26#039;s age.

Danny is two more than twice lily%26#039;s age:

x + 16 = 2x + 2

Then solve the equation you get:

x + 16 = 2x + 2

16 = x + 2

x = 14

x + 16 = 30

Lily is 14, Danny is 30.

Hope that helps!
Reply:Let

X = Lily%26#039;s age

Y = Danny%26#039;s age

Since Lily is 16 years younger than Danny, then

Y = X + 16 (Equation 1)

and since Danny is 2 more than twice Lily%26#039;s age

Y = 2X + 2 (Equation 2)

Since Equation 1 is equal to Equation 2,

X + 16 = 2X + 2

2X - X = 16 - 2

X = 14

Solving for Y (from Equation 1),

Y = X + 16 = 14 + 16 = 30

Danny is 30 years old and Lily is 14 years old.
Reply:replace lily with x and danny with y.

x+16=y y+2=2x therefore y=2x-2

that means x+16=2x-2

x+16-2=2x

x=14 y=16+14=30

lily is 14 yrs old danny is 30 yrs old
Reply:let lilly%26#039;s age be x

danny%26#039;s age be y

y-16=x

y=2x+2

solving these 2 equations

x=14(lily%26#039;s age)

y=30(danny%26#039;s age)
